Why We Do It

It started with one family — now it's a whole community.

The Charity Golf Day began in 2018, when a member of the extended Livingstone Building whānau needed support to pay for cancer treatment. A golf day was organised with a modest goal — to raise a few thousand dollars. It raised $35,000.

That day became The Charity Golf Day — an annual event bringing together businesses, golfers, sponsors, suppliers, volunteers and donors, all for the same reason: to help make sure cost is never the reason someone goes without the medication they need.

A Story From Our Community

Meet Shianne.

A Story of Strength, Courage & Hope.

We have been supporting Shianne since 2021. In 2015/16, Shianne was travelling through Croatia when she suffered the first of many seizures and was rushed to hospital. Doctors ran tests and scans and quickly found the cause: a brain tumour.

In September 2020, a routine MRI showed some sinister changes. Shianne had emergency surgery the following week, where doctors found tumour growth and again removed as much as they could. In November 2020 she was given a devastating diagnosis — a Grade III Glioblastoma — and doctors needed to start treating it aggressively with radiation and chemotherapy, beginning on 25 November 2020.

Incredibly, Shianne is currently in remission but continues her treatment as a preventative measure. We are continuing to support Shianne.
